My Approach ...
I draw my energy and positivity from everything around me, people, the Meath landscape, the striking seascape from Gormanston to Drogheda with the stunning backdrop of the Cooley and Mourne Mountains to the north, and the big skies in peaceful places such as Tara & Bective.
I believe my paintings are quite distinctive and totally unique in terms of how they are composed and created. Using watercolour and gold leaf on paper, my work is fresh and vibrant and presented in a modern, contemporary manner. My art is instantly recognisable not only because of the vibrancy of the colours I use but also because of the small squares I use to present much of my work. I use colour, forms, energy, movement, contrasts of fuzziness and sharpness, depth, emerging light and space as a visual exploration and vibrant expression of a spectrum of positive emotions, feelings and states of mind.
Each individual piece is the result of a process of developing multiple layers, with elements of each layer protected and other elements washed, rubbed or scratched away, but all building a 'history', reflected in the 'moment', the 'positive moment', captured by each piece. The vibrancy and depth of each piece provides the viewer with the opportunity to create their own narrative or narratives as they may respond differently at different times.
Each small square can be described as a miniature painting in itself and each representing a 'moment', a 'positive moment'. The collective, whether it be a 9-piece, a 50-piece or his largest to date, a 361-piece creation, represents an uplifting aspect on the spectrum of positivity.
Please take a few minutes to browse the pieces here on the site, and create your own narratives. Let your mind take you on a journey and tap into, or recharge, your own reserves of positivity ...!!
Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me in relation to any piece you see or any ideas you may have for a special commission.

I was born in Dumfries, Scotland in 1965 but grew up in Mullingar. Life has taken me to fascinating parts of the world and I'm now living in the village of Stamullen, Co. Meath, with Cécile, Antoine, Clodagh and Tristan.
You will see from my LinkedIn profile that I have built, and continue to build on, nearly 30 years of occupational psychology and public service HR experience in Ireland and the UK. Over the last number of years executive coaching has captured my passion and energy and I get huge satisfaction from working closely with managers and executives to help them reach their potential and move towards achieving real personal fulfilment.
