Niall speaks at Sol Summer Show Opening

I was delighted and hounoured to be asked to talk about my art at the opening of the Sol Gallery's 'New Heights' exhibition opening. It was a beautiful evening in Dawson Street and the crowd were in good form enjoying the great selection of art on show.

The exhibition was officially opened by Ros Drinkwater who gave a beautifully original and inspiring speech. Ros is the Fine Arts columnist for the Sunday Business Post, but is also a fabulous photographer and her work is well worth checking out at www.rosdrinkwater.com.

Martin Davis, owner of the Sol Gallery, asked me to talk for a few minutes about my art, my inspiration and my approach.

I talked about how important positivity is in my life and the influence it has on my art. I gave a whistle stop tour of how I approach a painting, building up layers over a 3 - 4 week period and then cutting it up to create my very distinctive small squares which represent 'positive moments' for me. The next 'creative wave' in my process involves combining the squares to create a vibrant, uplifting and distinctive piece of art.

It was a great night and I really enjoyed meeting a lot people, many of them new to me. It was also great to meet other exhibiting artists such as Ann Flynn and Francis O'Toole who were there on the night.

The exhibition runs to July 17th.
