Cracking Opening for Niall's 3rd Solo Show

Well that was a cracker …. a huge, huge thank you to everyone who made the opening on Friday 20th Oct opening so wonderful …!! Despite the bad weather we had a really great crowd & the buzz was just fabulous. I’m really thrilled with how the opening went and if you want to catch the show it runs for 2 weeks at Sol Art Gallery on Dawson St. until 3rd Nov.

I am delighted to present 26 new paintings as part of this show 'Radiate'. The e-Catalogue showing the range and mix of colours, backgrounds, shapes and sizes will be available online here very soon.

I would like to thank Donal Leavy for opening the exhibition. It was a late call for Donal, who I asked to step in for his son Dan, who was on the card for opening the show. Dan, who plays rugby for Leinster, was out with an injury which was freeing him up to open the show, but he was two weeks ahead of schedule with his recovery, and three days before the opening was named for the match day squad for the European Champions Cup game on Saturday 21st in Glasgow. So his Dad was called off the bench to cover him ... !! It worked well ... and Donal did a fine job .. !!

I would like to thank sponsors Absolut for some fabulous refreshments on the opening night and Winsor & Newton for their support with some of my paints and materials.

In addition and as mentioned during my thank you speech at the opening I'd like to thanks the following people for their help over the last 12 months in particular in bringing my vision for this show to reality:

  • David Skinner, the guru of historical Irish wallpaper and author of the fabulously produced book 'Wallpapers in Ireland, 1700 - 1900';

& three people in particular from my local village Stamullen, who assisted me with different aspects of my process:

  • Ian Crawford, 'Stitch IT, Brand IT',  Balbriggan, Co. Dublin;
  • Fergal Walsh, Print Solutions, Western Industrial Estate, Dublin;
  • Monika Flanagan, photographer at;

A special word of thanks to my wonderful framer, working out of Skerries:

  • Ger Boylan at 'The Picture Framing Place'.
     Looking into the Sol Gallery form Dawson Street ... it may have been raining outside, but it was buzzing inside ...!!
     Saying a few word of thanks ...
     A packed house ... with some familiar faces ... :-)
     Donal Leavy, who opened the show, my mother Anna Marie, Cécile and myself ...
This exhibition 'Radiate' is dedicated to the memory of Cecile's mum, ma belle mère, Micheline Soulé, 1934 - 2017.
